“God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfil?” - Numbers 23:19

Every evening at seven o'clock, we have our Prayer Circle. We hear about many needs and, on behalf of those who contact us, we bring them before God. He invites us to pray, and we believe He listens.

One of the greatest needs in our society is a lack of money. Here we must also be honest: one shilling remains one shilling; prayer alone will not turn it into two.

Many people have borrowed money they cannot repay. Betting has taken the little that remained. Alcohol has damaged families while rent and school fees are left unpaid. Quick loans on the phone have sometimes been followed by another loan simply to repay the first. Shame then makes people hide, and eventually they may feel there is no way out.

When Money Becomes a Trap

But there is a way forward. Jesus would not promise that prayer will magically remove every debt or consequence. Neither would He condemn or abandon the person who has fallen. He would come close and say:

“Do not give up. Get up, tell the truth, and begin again.”

God is merciful, faithful and ready to forgive. His forgiveness does not pretend that nothing happened, and it does not always remove the consequences of our choices. It gives us the courage to face what happened and start walking in a different direction.

A Practical First Step

Your first miracle may be a very practical one: do not take another loan, place the next bet, or reach for the bottle. Tell someone what is really happening. Ask your family, a trusted friend, a counsellor, or your church for help. Prayer matters, but so do honest advice, a realistic plan, and someone willing to walk beside you.

You Can Begin Again

You are still loved. You are still valuable. With God's forgiveness, honest help, and one small step at a time, you can begin again.

Become Part of the Answer

And to our partners: if God has blessed you with an income and a loving family, perhaps He is asking you to become part of the answer to someone else's prayer.

Do not only pray. Listen, stand beside them, guide them and, where you can, offer practical help.
