Hebrews 10:26-27 (CEV)
26 No sacrifices can be made for people who decide to sin after they find out about the truth. 27 They are God’s enemies, and all they can look forward to is a terrible judgment and a furious fire.
As I was thinking about this verse, I was reminded about
James 4:17 (CEV)
17 If you don’t do what you know is right, you have sinned.
This verse is directed to the believer. You and I came to a place of conviction by the Holy Spirit and our eyes were opened to the despicable life we were living. The Holy Spirit drew us to Gods mercy and we cried out to God confessing our sin and turning away from it and now we are born again. The Holy Spirit then made us His dwelling place for Jesus said
John 14:16 (CEV)
16 Then I will ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit who will help[a]you and always be with you.
He speaks to us, He guides us, He comforts us. It would be impossible to live a victorious life in God without the Holy Spirit.
Knowing all that and knowing the truth how then can we go back to a life of sin ignoring the leading and direction of Gods Holy Spirit in our life?
How then can we deliberately sin though the Holy Spirit is constantly trying to lead us in the way that leads to eternal life?
Hebrews tells us that no sacrifices can be made for those who deliberately decide to sin after they have found out the truth. If you do so then you become an enemy of God and all you can look forward to is judgment and a furious fire.
2 Peter 2:21-22 (CEV)
Even after they knew what was right, they turned their backs on the holy commandments that they were given. 22 What happened to them is just like the true saying,
“A dog will come back to lick up its own vomit.
A pig that has been washed will roll in the mud.”
