John 15:20 (NKJV)
20 Remember the word that I said to you,……..
One of the things that we are urged not to forget are the words of Jesus. It is when we forget his words that we look back like Lots wife; it is when we forget his words that we have an identity crisis not knowing who we are thus not being sure of how to live life.
Why are we not to forget the words of Jesus?
John 6:63 (NKJV)
63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
He came that we may have life to the full and for us to experience that then we have to read his word because how do you remember that which you have not read? His words are spirit and they are life.
Many are being led astray today because they remember more the words of men as opposed to remembering the words of Jesus. When you remember what Jesus said then you will clearly pick out anyone who tries to misrepresent him.
Matthew 4:4
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
The only way to live a full life is to remember and apply the words of Jesus. Many today are chasing the natural, the bread, and the tangible and while doing that they neglect the word which is the treasure map.
Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
From this simple verse I can gather this much; if I do not remember the words of Jesus then my path will be engulfed in darkness and I will not know which way to go. I will have no light for my path, I will not even be aware of any danger that lurks ahead.
In this day and age where we have many distractions and things that demand our attention, let us remember to be students of the word, let us remind each other what Jesus said.
