Made up Mind!
Overcoming Procrastination
James 1:8 (KJV)
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Procrastination, we all go through this from time to time but some of us have made this our dwelling place. Procrastination is basically putting off doing something that needs to be done. I am sure you can think of something that you ought to have done that you have not done maybe because you have been undeceive about it.
One of the reasons we procrastinate is because we simply can’t make up our mind about what we want. James tells us a double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
It is good to have options but when one cannot make up their mind about what they want or about what needs to be done then it becomes a disaster. You will keep changing your mind based on what other people are doing and after all is said and done you will end up having accomplished nothing.
I once read a story of a young man who went to the shoe maker excited because finally he had the money to have a new pair of shoes made for him. As the shoe maker was taking his measurements he asked him “ what kind of shoe would you want, one with a round or pointed tip?” the young man could not make up his mind and so he said he did not know. Finally the day came when the young man had to go and pick his new pair of shoes. He was disappointed when he got there because the shoe maker had made one pointed shoe and the other round tipped. He looked at the young man and said this is what will happen to you when you cannot make up your mind, others will make it for you.
Decisive people know what they want and they go on to do it. They do not wait for the approval of others; they go on and get the job done.
What lays undone because you cannot make up your mind?
Is the house unpainted because you cannot decide whether to paint it green or yellow? Does the color keeps changing every time you talk to a different person?
A double minded man is unstable in all, not some buy in all of his ways!
It is time to make up your mind. Choose a side and stick with it, begin doing something today!
Indecision is the enemy of progress, not saying yes to one possibility is saying no to all of them!
