Philippians 4:15-16
15 And you Philippians know that in the early days of preaching the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of [c]giving and receiving except you alone; 16 for even in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs.
Paul is in prison and when the church at Philippi gets to hear of it, they are deeply concerned. They put their resources together and through one of them by the name Epaphroditus they send Paul a financial gift to help provide for his needs. This was the background from which Paul writes the letter to the Philippians and in verse 19 in response to their giving, Paul says;
Philippians 4:19
19 And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. 20 To our God and Father be the glory [d]forever and ever. Amen.
God is well able to take care of His people no matter the kind of situation or circumstances they find themselves in. He is Jehovah El-Shaddai; my supply, my nourishment, almighty God.
He is the God who provided a ram in the thicket for Abraham when he was about to sacrifice Isaac his son. He is the same God who provided a harvest for Isaac during a season of drought in Genesis 26. What about Elijah and the widow of Zerephath? God provided and sustained them in the middle of a drought. What about Elisha and the widow who only had a little oil? God also supplied for them what they needed for sustenance.
Romans 8:32 (AMP)
32 He who did not spare [even] His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?
I love this scripture because it helps me put things in perspective especially when I begin to allow doubt in my heart and begin to think that God does not care and He will not come through to provide for me. If God has already given me His own Son, which other thing would be more precious than that? What is it that would be more precious for Him to hold back from me? Everything that is and that has existed was created by Jesus and for Him.
Colossians 1:16 (AMP)
16 For [a]by Him all things were created in heaven and on earth, [things] visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities; all things were created and exist through Him [that is, by His activity] and for Him.
Because of this, and because I have Jesus then I can confidently say that my God shall SUPPLY!
