For to us, a child is born, to us, a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Imagine having a friend who knows everything there is to know. Someone who not only knows the past and present but they also knows the future. How often do you think you would seek counsel from this friend? I bet you would seek counsel from him every time you had the opportunity to do so because you know their counsel would be perfect each time every time.
The promise in Isaiah 9:6 begins with a child but as you continue reading the child grows into more than just a baby in a manger. Hey then should you and I relate with the different facets that the child became?
He shall be called wonderful counselor. Not just a counselor but a wonderful one because His counsel is perfect. Jesus is the word that was made flesh and remember He said that He and the father are one. A counselor is one who gives you advice helping you walk the path of freedom and victory, one who is able to teach you and walk with you. Counsel can also refer to a legal advisor one who speaks also on your behalf.
JOHN 14:26 AMP
But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor–Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and He is the same Spirit that was in Christ and remember Christ said that He and His Father are one. If you have seen Him you have seen the father.
The baby in a manger grew to be a mighty counselor and He promised to be with us always till the end of the age. He strengthens us and teaches us. He is ready to give us counsel but the question is, are we ready to involve him in our life? Are we ready to take His counsel? Are we ready to walk in faith?
He is a wonderful Counselor and His counsel is always perfect because He knows all things.
