Life Lessons from Proverbs
Proverbs 1:5 NKJV
A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,
One of the lessons I have learned in life is that no one knows everything. I have learned never to despise people because you can learn something from everyone. A wise man will hear and increase in learning. That takes humility, the humility to accept that you do not know everything and thus allow someone else to teach or counsel you.
The book of Proverbs has a lot to say about wisdom and one of the most important things you will learn is that wisdom is on the lookout for anyone who will embrace it.
Proverbs 8:1-4 NKJV
Does not wisdom cry out, And understanding lift up her voice? She takes her stand on the top of the high hill, beside the way, where the paths meet. She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entrance of the doors: “To you, O men, I call, And my voice is to the sons of men.
God’s wisdom has no end and I believe that it is locked up in His word. The more we read it the more we gain wisdom understanding and revelation.
Proverbs 18:2-3 (NKJV)
2 A fool has no delight in understanding, But in expressing his own heart.
It is said that when you stop learning and growing then you start dying. When you are only content with what you know and you have no desire to seek understanding then the bible classifies you as a foo.
Proverbs 12:15 (NKJV)
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise.
Do you have a hunger to learn or are you content with what you know? Are you humble enough to receive counsel or are you so puffed up with pride thinking that you know it all?
It is said that knowledge exists outside of your knowledge. A wise man then remains wise because they never stop learning.
May we develop a hunger to learn may we develop the humility to be taught may we develop the discipline of consistency and also the humility to teach others what we know because to teach another is to learn better.
