Proverbs 6:16:19
16 These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil,
19 A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.
What is your natural inclination, where do you run to easily? Proverbs tells us that God hates feet that are swift in running to evil. This talks of an individual who is hasty and impulsive towards sin. This is an individual who has no restraint when it comes to sin. He is itching for the next sinful thing to do. This type of individual has no conscience, they are driven by the flesh and not the Spirit of God this is an individual who moves from one sin to another with speed.
Proverbs 1:15-16
My son, do not walk in the way with them. Keep your feet from their path,16 For their feet run to evil And they hasten to shed blood.
People whose feet are quick to run towards evil are also quick to shed blood. I find that interesting because the third thing in our list of 7 is hands that shed innocent blood.
As a believer you and I should be led by the Spirit of God.
Romans 8:14 (NASB)
14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
The Spirit of God will never lead you to do evil and so if your feet are quick in running towards evil then guess who is leading you. Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path. That tells me that without the word of God as my constant companion then my feet will begin to drift off towards evil. This reminds me of another scripture that talks about our feet
Ephesians 6:16
15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Your feet will take you in the direction that your heart is inclined to because where the heart goes, the man will follow. Unless your heart is transformed by the power of Christ then you will always gravitate towards and be quick to run towards evil.
