Genesis 5:24 NKJV
24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
When God created Adam and Eve and placed them in the garden of Eden, he loved to fellowship with them. When they sinned, they heard God walking in the garden in the cool of the day and they hid from his presence. Gods desire has always been that man would walk with him. His desire is to walk step by step with us but sin separated us from him.
The good news though is that Christ came and paid the penalty of sin so that we could then be reconnected to God making it possible to go back to the relationship that Adam and Eve had in the garden before the fall but it is not automatic. We have a part to play in it in that we must also want and desire that connection.
Enoch walked with God! He did not just call on the name of the Lord like others did, he went a step further and he developed a deep relationship with God.
Amos 3:3 says “can two walk together unless they agree?” That tells you the deep relationship that Enoch had with God. God was part of all he did in life and to imagine that Enoch walked with God for 300 years is amazing. This is an encouragement to us when we think of how hard and impossible it is to walk with God consistently. Think though this with me;
Enoch did not have the word of God in the form of a bible as we do.
Enoch was not separated living alone in some cave, no, he was living among a perverse generation. Remember he was the great grandfather to Noah and by the time we get to Noah, things are so bad God has to destroy everything except Noah and his family and the animals in the ark.
Enoch was not filled with the Holy Spirit like we are in this dispensation.
Enoch did not have a pastor or a fellowship to follow him up and encourage him all the time yet despite all this, he walked with God 300 years.
The fact that Enoch walked with God means he separated himself from others and he was totally dedicated to God and God was so pleased that he took him up to heaven after a 300 year walk with Him. Talk about faith and consistency.
I honestly believe that this season will separate those who really want to walk with God from those who are only looking for a Sunday morning acquaintance. May you and I in this season develop a real hunger for God that we may walk with Him, not for Him or after Him but with Him because unless we truly agree with Him them we cannot walk together.
Reflective Thoughts
Enoch walked with God 300 years. What kind of life do you imagine he lived? What was his daily life like for those 300 years?

Do you desire the same kind of walk with God?

Enoch not only desired but he paid the price to walk with God in a wicked generation. Are you willing to pay the price to walk with God?
