Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?
For you and I to walk with God, then we have to agree with Him. Remember God is the same yesterday today and forever, He changes not, He is consistent. We must get the understanding that when we approach God then we do not do so on our own terms but rather we approach Him on His terms.
Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)
Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
To walk, you require feet and a path to walk on. If you and I are to walk with God then we need His word because it is the light that directs us on where to place our next step and also the light that illuminates the path ahead.
There is no way one can work with God unless they are dedicated to reading and obeying the word of God. God and His word are the same, they are consistent and they change not. Without His word then we are walking in darkness and we have no idea which direction we are going in.
To walk with God means that we have to take delight in His laws day and night like it says in the book of;
Psalm 1: 1-2
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.
After accepting Christ into our life to become believers, the next step is to love his word. Not just to read it because it is what good Christians are to do, we MUST delight in his word and meditate on it day and night.
It is as we read the word and take delight in it that we know God and his nature, it is in the reading of the word that we begin to understand the very heart of God and thus align our lives to Him so that we can then walk with Him.
Jesus reminded us that man cannot live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
Remember, two cannot walk together unless they agree and in this case God changes not so we are the ones to change and without a deep love from his word, this will not happen.
