Walking With God: Led by The Spirit

It is said that there is a guide in the deserts of Arabia who never loses his way. He has been named “The Dove Man” He carries in his breast a homing-pigeon with a very fine cord attached to one leg. When in any doubt as to which path to take the guide throws the bird in the air. The pigeon quickly strains at the cord to fly in the direction of home and so leads his master accurately.

Romans 8:14 (AMP)
14 For all who are allowing themselves to be led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

For us to walk with God, we must be led by the Holy Spirit. Walking with God means we do not allow circumstances to dictate the way we should go or what we should do, rather we rely on the Holy Spirit for direction and wisdom because the Holy Spirit is all knowing and He knows the mind and deep things of God.
For this to be made possible, you and I must have fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 13:14 (AMP)
14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

This is one verse we quote a lot but many are yet to develop fellowship with the Holy Spirit. When we take time to fellowship with Him then He reveals to us the deep things of God. He lives in us and we must cultivate the lifestyle of talking to Him and listening to what He tells us to do. When we learn this truth then we can always be assured to be in the will of God each time because we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Like Jesus we will be able to say that I only do that which I see my father do. Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit always. Even when he was tempted by the devil, the bible says that he was led there by the Holy Spirit.
As the chorus of the famous hymn says;

He leadeth me, he leadeth me,
by his own hand he leadeth me;
his faithful follower I would be,
for by his hand he leadeth me

Remember, trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not in your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.

Reflective Thoughts
Are you mostly led by circumstances and situations or by the Holy Spirit?

What must you do to develop deeper fellowship with the Holy Spirit?

Ask God to fill you with his Holy Spirit today! He is willing….
