Walking With God: Benefits of Walking with God

Genesis 5:24
Enoch walked with God and he was not for God took him.

Every time I read the few verses that talk about Enoch I am just amazed. Enoch made a resolve to walk with God, and he did so for 300 years and God took him, Enoch did not taste death. I think about that and I can’t help but think about Adam and Eve in the garden. God told them that if they disobeyed and walked away from Him, they would surely die. Now they did not die physically on the spot but for sure they died spiritually and there was a separation.

The biggest benefit of walking with God is life! Jesus came and said that he is the way the truth and the LIFE! He said that he came that we may have LIFE and have it more abundantly!
Gods original plan and desire was for us to live forever with Him, and that is what the enemy sought to steal kill and destroy. What could be more valuable than life forever, a life in the presence of God?

Psalms 1:1-3
1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the [a]ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he [b]meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the [c]rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

One of the things that is so evident in the ministry of Jesus is that God is looking for fruit in our lives. He created us to be fruitful and it is in our fruitfulness that we display his glory and worship him.
Psalms 1 tells us that those who walk with God will be fruitful. Their lives will be like a tree that’s planted by the rivers of water meaning that they will forever be refreshed to be fruitful. Those who walk with God will always produce much fruit in their appointed seasons and whatever they do will prosper.
On the other hand those who do not walk with the Lord, they will not be rooted but rather they will be like chaff that’s driven away by the wind and they shall not stand in judgement.

Reflective Thoughts.
Do you have life, are you full of life…living life to the full or barely surviving and just getting by?

Is your life fruitful? What are some of the fruits that people pick from your life that makes their life better?

Are you walking with God? If you are, keep walking and don’t look back.
If you are not, He is waiting to walk with you ….. say this prayer

Lord I want to walk with you the rest of my days
I recognize that I am lost and far away from you because of sin and disobedience.
I turn away from my sin and I ask for forgiveness
From today I declare that Jesus is my Lord and Savior
I begin my walk with you.
Amen!
