Galatians 5:16-18 NKJV
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Lets be real, we all struggle with the flesh and we [sometimes go through cycles of struggling because we find ourselves gratifying the lusts of the flesh and we end up doing the very things we do not want to do while doing the very things we do not want to do. We are not alone in this matter, Paul the great Apostle, the author of the book of Galatians also went through the same thing.
15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.
The Holy Spirit resides in us to strengthen us and help us overcome this scenario in our life. He is our help and guide, our teacher and counselor who knows the very min of God. In fact He is God and His desire is that we would fellowship with Him on a consistent basis that He may direct us in the way that we should go.
When we do so then we do not fulfill the desires of the flesh as mentioned in our key verse for today. To walk ion the Spirit is to live a victorious life, one that is above the influence of the enemy and the flesh. Daily we have a choice to make, which road will we take, will we fulfill the desires of the flesh or walk in the Spirit? Remember every decision has consequences that are attached to it and every road leads to a particular destination.
I pray that through the devotions this week we will learn how to truly walk in the Spirit and have fellowship with Him.
In what area of your life are you challenged most to walk in the Spirit?
How do you respond when you find yourself having the urge to do what you really don’t want to do but the flesh is pushing you on?
In those times when you do give in to the desires of the flesh, how do you feel and move on from there?
1 John 1:9
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
