Walking in the Spirit: First things First

Galatians 5:16-18 NKJV
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Walking in the Spirit is one of the most amazing lifestyles one can live on this earth because it means that you are allowing the all knowing, all powerful God with whom nothing is impossible to direct your every step; AMAZING!
But before we get all excited, we have to start the race from the very beginning. You cannot enjoy what you never started in the first place. This probably should have been the first devotion in this series, but here goes….

John 3:3 NKJV
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born [a]again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

It is impossible to receive the kingdom of God if you are not born again. It is impossible to walk in the Spirit if you are not born again. This simply means that you abandon your life of sin and in faith accept that the death on the cross and consequent resurrection of Christ was for your sake, confessing with your heart and believing in your heart.
God has such an amazing plan for our lives that i honestly believe that when we fully understand it, we will embrace it with all our hearts.
It is only after rejecting our former life of sin and embracing the new life in Christ Jesus that we can receive and walk in the Holy Spirit. Don’t be one who only has head knowledge about Christ but in reality you have no relationship with Him. Hanging around Church circles all your life even reading the bible only to hear on that day, “Depart from me you worker of iniquity, I never knew you!”
Know Him and the power of His resurrection because it is that same power that raised Him from the dead that lives in us once we get born again!

Reflective Thoughts
Do you know Jesus on a personal level or do you just know about Him?

Think back to the time you surrendered your life to Him, how did you feel and what were you looking forward to?

If you have not embraced him in your life, why don’t you do so today?
Romans 10:9-10 NKJV
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
