Understanding Worship: A Lifestyle of Worship

Romans 12:1‭-‬2 AMP
Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].
Worship is not an event and neither is it something we should experience periodically. Worship should be a lifestyle. Like we have said, worship is not the singing of slow songs in Church, that is an avenue for worship but it is not worship. If we are to worship God in Spirit and truth, then it must go beyond the Sunday service into the rest of the week.
It’s interesting that our key scripture links setting ourselves apart with our acquiring a new mindset. A new mindset means a different kind of life. We cannot continue thinking and living the same way as the world and at the same time claim that we are worshiping God. We must set ourselves apart and allow the word of God to transform the way we think hence affecting the way we live.
As Jesus said, we cannot just give him lip service and yet our hearts are far away from him.
Our lifestyle must reflect the reverence we have for him, it must demonstrate our love for him, our lifestyle must co relate with the words we say when we tell him his much we love him. And not just Him, even the way we relate to and treat others is important. Remember the law and the prophets can be summed up this way, love God with all your heart mind and soul and love your neighbor as self.
Does your lifestyle demonstrate surrender to God?
How does your worship to God look like the rest of the week apart from Sunday?
Is your mind being renewed? How?
