5 If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.
Many people derail from their course and journey when they come face to face with trials and hardships because they don’t have the wisdom to make great decisions at that point in their life. Trials have the tendency to cause us to be irrational and not to look at things critically. In fact, many people panic when they are in the midst of trials and they make decisions that affect the rest of their life in that one moment of panic.
After talking to us about trials, joy and the place of patience and endurance in our walk, James brings in the aspect of wisdom and where we can find it. If you lack the wisdom to guide you through a decision or circumstance, the remedy is simple, ask God for it.
Proverbs 4:7 (KJV)
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
The book of Proverbs has a lot to say about wisdom and the above scripture is one of my personal favorites. Wisdom is the principal thing, and the encouraging thing is that it is readily available to those who will humble themselves before God to ask for it because James says that God will give generously to everyone who asks for it.
Are you stuck? Are you going through a trial that you do not even understand? Do not panic and do not let bitterness rule your heart because they will lead you in the wrong direction. Go before God and ask Him for wisdom to know how to navigate through your situation. He is a good God and He will give you wisdom generously. His wisdom will get you where you need to be when you need to be there and remember He is all knowing so the wisdom He gives you is exactly what you need. As one friend once put it across to me; do not be so quick to broadcast to others all your trials and problems, instead talk to God about it, He will give you the wisdom you need.
