Those who seek wisdom find it

Life Lessons from Proverbs
Proverbs 8:17

17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me.

Proverbs 8 talks about the excellence of wisdom and one key verse is verse 17. Wisdom is available to all; it is accessible to all because it cries out by the gates at the entrance of the city for anyone who will give her an ear. Those who love wisdom will be loved back and those who seek wisdom diligently they will find it.
But what is wisdom?
In simple terms, it is a way of viewing and approaching life where conduct morality and philosophies about the meaning of life are concerned. Others would say that it is the application of knowledge to make good choices and judgment. We have to understand then that there is earthly wisdom and godly wisdom. The bible has something to say about earthly wisdom

1 Corinthians 3:19 (NKJV)
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”

This is not the wisdom we are talking about. We are talking about godly wisdom, and it has a starting point if one is going to acquire it.

Proverbs 9:10 (NKJV)
10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

To fear God here talks about reverence and respect, giving Him the due honor and recognizing that He alone is God, He is the ultimate and above Him there is no other. To know Him brings understanding and when you apply that understanding in your life then you begin to walk in wisdom.
Many times we don’t have something because we have not humbled ourselves to ask for it and James reminds us by saying;

James 1:5 (NKJV)
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

It is that simple, if you ask God will give it to you and He gives liberally and without reproach.
James also tells us the nature of this wisdom that comes from above;

James 3:17 (NKJV)
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

Are you a believer? Do you have wisdom that comes from above? If not, it is because you have not asked for it. God is willing and ready to give it to you, just ask. Remember;

Proverbs 4:7-9 (NKJV)
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
