The Role of the Holy Spirit

John 16:7
But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you].

One of the things we shared in our devotion yesterday is that it is impossible to live a victorious Christian life and to be a witness for Christ without the Holy Spirit. So how exactly does he help us live a victorious life? From the above scripture we see some of his roles. He is a helper without Him we cannot make it. He is a comforter who comes along side to comfort us when the journey seems to hard and when we experience challenges and shortfalls.
Right now with the corona virus sweeping across the globe we need the Holy Spirit to remind us of Gods promises and lead us into all truth especially because there are so many voices speaking across the globe. He is also the advocate who pleads our case; he is an intercessor who prays for us. Several other scriptures explain His role in our life.

John 14:26 (AMP)
26 But the [a]Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.

God knows that we cannot fully understand His word and His ways with our carnal minds so the Holy Spirit comes in to teach us and to reveal the word of God to us. He also brings to our remembrance the things we have been taught because naturally we forget.

John 16 (AMP)
13 But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth].

In the midst of all manner of doctrines and false gospels, it is only the Holy Spirit that can guide us into all truth because He is the Spirit of truth. This same verse also tells us that He will disclose to us what is to come in the future.

1 Corinthians 12:13 (AMP)
13 For by one [Holy] Spirit we were all baptized into one body, [spiritually transformed—united together] whether Jews or Greeks (Gentiles), slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one [Holy] Spirit [since the same Holy Spirit fills each life].

The Holy Spirit also cements the unity in the body of Christ, he is the Spirit of unity ensuring that though we are from many tribes and nations then we become one in Christ.
He also gives us gifts from which we can minister to the body of Christ and also manifests His fruit in us which changes our character to be like Christ. He also convicts us when we sin drawing us back to the Father.
