Thanksgiving is an expression of gratitude, a declaration of appreciation to God. God does not just do good things; He is the very essence of goodness. He is good and nothing else apart from good can come out of him.
God’s will is for us to give thanks in all circumstances. When we realize the power and benefits of giving thanks in all circumstances, then we enter into a whole new realm of life. Thanksgiving dispels worry and anxiety because it shifts the focus from worry to God’s goodness and faithfulness.
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.
Worry and anxiety bring stress and sickness into our life. It creates doubt and damages our faith. A heart of Thanksgiving is a heart filled with faith, a heart that is focused on God and believes He has the very best in store. A heart that reflects back and appreciates who God is and what He has done and in faith it projects to what God will do because if He did it before, then He will do it again.
A heart of gratitude is a heart that is filled with peace and rest.
Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].
Thanksgiving draws us closer to God because the focus is always on Him and we become more aware of what God has done and continues to do for us. When you focus on one things then all other things fade away, what you place your focus on drives the direction of your life. When you focus on giving thanks to God then you magnify Him in your life. He becomes the important thing in your life.
Think about it, a great full person is an attractive person to be around because they always see the good and give thanks for it they are always joyous and they sow joy wherever they go which then becomes what they reap. Doors open for a person with a heart of gratitude because the reality is, no one wants the company of a grumpy complaining person.
Remember
1 Chronicles 16:34 AMP
O give thanks to the Lord , for He is good; For His loving-kindness endures forever.
