Hebrews 1:1-3 NKJV
1 God, who [a]at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the [b]worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had [c]by Himself [d]purged [e]our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
The Christmas message is the greatest message that man will ever hear, it is what we call the good news. Sometimes we do not appreciate the good news because we have no idea what the bad news was.
The bad news was that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and to add to that, the wages of sin is death. The bad news was that because of Adam and Eve sinning in the garden of Eden, sin entered into the world meaning that all who were born from Adam were born with a sinful nature inherent in us. Because of this, it meant that we were separated from God and there was nothing we could do on our part to be reconciled to God. The only outcome for us was death because that is the wage attached to sin. We see in the old testament through the many sacrifices how man tried to be reconciled to God but he kept falling short every time.
Think about this, God lives in a different dimension from us and we cannot see him. In the olden days as the verse says, he spoke to our fathers through the prophets. But we all know that even with this many false prophets arose and are still arising today. In these last days, the bible tells us that God has spoken to us through his son Jesus whom he has appointed heir to all things. No wonder Jesus declared that he is the way, the truth, and the life and that no one can come to the Father except they come through him.
The good news, the miracle Christmas message is that God demonstrated his love for us by sending his son born of a woman speaking a language we understand to come and live in our midst though without sin that he may be the sacrifice once and for all to pay for the wages of our sin that we may be reconciled back to God. The gift that was given at Christmas was to reconcile us back to God hence Jesus came preaching that the kingdom of God is now here.
We do not have to do anything to be part of this kingdom because God himself through his son has done everything that needs to be done. When it was all done Jesus proclaimed that “It is finished!” All that is left is for you and me to believe in Christ and what he has done.
Romans 10:9-10 NKJV
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
The miracle in the message is that we who were once dead in our sin have now been made alive in Christ Jesus. The miracle is that we no longer have to be separated from God, we no longer have to strive to try to be reconciled back to God. God has given us a gift, a gift through Jesus Christ that we may be reconciled to him.
