John 8:12
12 Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, “[a]I am the Light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
This one thing is for sure, we live in a world filled with moral darkness. All you have to do is switch on your TV set or go online or even walk in the streets and you will realize how the world is engulfed in darkness and yet people don’t even realize it.
Sometimes when you are so deep in darkness you get so used to it so much so that that it becomes normal to you until you are exposed to light which is what Jesus did. Without Jesus who is the light of the world then darkness reigns. One thing we have to take note of is that darkness always rolls away when light shows up; darkness cannot compete with light no matter how small the light may be. That is why a fire fly though it is tiny it will get noticed in the midst of darkness.
As we shared yesterday, Jesus is the word that was made flesh which then connects what Jesus said about Him being the light to;
Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
When you follow Jesus, when you read the word believe it and implement it in your life then you will not walk in darkness. If you have ever tried to walk around in your house when there is a blackout then you have an understanding of what walking in darkness is all about. Though you are familiar with your surroundings, you still bump into the furniture, or hit your tiny toe on something. Now imagine walking in darkness in an environment that you are not familiar with. That will be total disaster!
Jesus illuminates my path, meaning I know where I am going and I can see where to place my next step. When I walk in His light then areas in my life where I miss the mark are exposed and not only that, Jesus the light of the world comes in and makes it better.
Truth walks in the light because it has nothing to hide while lies and all the works of the enemy can only thrive in darkness. Allow Jesus to light up your life!
