The Great Commission: Where Should You Go?

Matthew 28:18‭-‬20 NKJV
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Lets be honest, sometimes when you read the great commission, it can get discouraging because it is such a humongous task, you don’t know where to start. Jesus tells us to make disciples of all nations, how do we do that? Have you ever had a task that you needed to accomplish but because of its magnitude you did not know where to start hence you never started? That’s what it is with the great commission and many believers.
The words of Jesus in the book of Acts 1:8 can help us break down this huge task into manageable pieces.
Acts 1:8 Amplified Bible
8 But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.”
Jesus tells tells the disciples who were in Jerusalem to start where they are, in Jerusalem. The same applies to you and I. We sometimes feel like we have done such a great work of ministry when we cross boarders to reach out to people in another country or even continent with the good news, but starting right at home is equally important. In fact, it is the people who live with you and interact with you that can truly testify of the changes that have happened in your life, so it will be hard to preach what you are not living.
Start at home in your neighborhood, your work place, your family, your community and as you are faithful there, then God himself will move you to Judea and Samaria even to the ends of the earth!
