Strategies to Greatness

Lessons from Gideon
Judges 6:25-26
25 Now on that same night the LORD said to Gideon, “Take your father’s bull, the second bull seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that belongs to your father, and cut down [c]the Asherah that is beside it; 26 and build an altar to the LORD your God on top of this mountain stronghold [with stones laid down] in an orderly way. Then take the second bull and offer a burnt sacrifice using the wood of the Asherah which you shall cut down.”

To achieve greatness you need a strategy and for you to achieve greatness Gods way you will need a strategy from God. Your definition of greatness will determine where you will run to in search of a strategy.

After Gideon is convinced that he is Gods man for the hour to deliver Israel from the hands of the Midianites, he gets a strategy for God. God’s strategy is always about Him and thus the first thing that Gideon has to do is tear down the altars to baal a false God and then put up alters to Jehovah and make a sacrifice to him. God strategy has never changed over the years, it is still the same, seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these other things will be added unto you.
Once you make God first, once you allow Him to be the focal point in all you do then He will reveal to you what steps you should take next.

Judges 7:5-6
5 So he brought the people down to the water, and the LORD said to Gideon, “You shall separate everyone who laps the water with his tongue as a dog laps, as well as everyone who kneels down to drink.” 6 Now the number of those who lapped [the water], putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men, but all the rest of the people kneeled down to drink water.

God’s strategies will many times look ridiculous and unrealistic. God reduces Gideon’s army from a team of 32,000 men down to 300. From 32k men, 22k returned home because they were afraid. Of the remaining 10k men, only 300 met Gods standard. I keep wondering, what must have been going on in the minds of the 300 that remained? I am sure some of them must have thought that Gideon is crazy and that is how it sometimes seems to the world when we engage Gods strategies.

To unleash your greatness using Gods strategy you must be a man or woman of faith. You must trust in his strategy and walk in total obedience no matter how ridiculous it looks. Think about Noah or Moses or David or Daniel or Joshua and the walls of Jericho.

God has a strategy for your greatness, put him first and allow Him to lead and guide you.
