Ephesians 6:10-11 NKJV
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
A strong immune system is important if one is to stay healthy physically. In simple terms, the work of the immune system is to detect and protect the body against infection. When you have a weak immune system, then you are prone to attacks from even weak viruses and bacteria that a strong immune system would easily destroy.
The same is true spiritually. When you have a weak immune system then you will be prone to fall into every other temptation or be swept away by every wind of doctrine.
Our key verse tells us to “Put On” meaning its a personal responsibility we have to take upon ourselves. Just like the armor of a soldier protects their bodies especially where the vital organs are located, we likewise have to put on the full armor of God for protection against the attacks of the enemy. Paul puts it this way;
Ephesians 6:14-18 NKJV
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
When you think through all the items listed you will diacover that the word is the foundation upon which all else is built. David put it this way in
Psalms 119:11 NKJV
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
When Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness, he pulled out the sword of the Spirit, the word, and he declared ” It is written!”
This tells me that one of the best ways to build a strong immune system is to know the truth of God’s word and not just to know it but to hide it in our hearts so that we can become one with it.
