Nehemiah 4:1-3
1 But when Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became furious, completely enraged, and he ridiculed the Jews. 2 He spoke before his brothers and the army of Samaria, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Can they restore it for themselves? Can they offer sacrifices? Can they finish in a day? Can they revive the stones from the heaps of dust and rubbish, even the ones that have been burned?” 3 Now Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and he said, “Even what they are building—if a fox should get up on it, he would break down their stone wall.”
When you get the burden to embark on a set course, it is natural to assume that everybody around you will share the same burden and give you all the support you need. The reality is that it is not usually the case. Many times opposition will come from the very people you expected to give you the most support.
This one thing is to be expected when you embark on rebuilding the broken walls, opposition will come so you had better be prepared for it. The enemy of our souls will not just sit by and clap his hands cheering you on as you rebuild the walls in your life. He will come in with a vengeance to create confusion and destruction.
So how do you handle opposition?
Nehemiah went back to God in prayer. He recognized that this was spiritual warfare and he dealt with it from a spiritual perspective. Once he had the assurance in the spiritual then he put in physical measures to ensure that they were secure and that the work went on.
Nehemiah 4:16
16 From that day on, half of my servants carried on the work while the other half held the spears, shields, bows, and breastplates; and the captains were behind the whole house of Judah.
The opposition made their work even harder but Nehemiah and his team was focused and they did not give up. I have seen people bail out when things became too hard and they convinced themselves that it was not the will of God after all.
Are you serious about rebuilding the walls? Then stay focused and on course when the enemy shows up because he will and like Nehemiah respond by saying; “I am doing a great work and cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave to come down to [meet with] you?”
Remain focused and stay the course, God is for you!
Reflections;
Who or what are the enemies out to stop the rebuilding of walls in your life?

Knowing that the enemy will come what is you plan to counter him so that you remain focused?
