Praying in the Spirit

Romans 8:26-27 (AMP)

26 In the same way, the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groanings too deep for words. 27 And He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because the Spirit intercedes [before God] on behalf of [a]God’s people in accordance with God’s will.

One of the promises that Jesus gave His us is that He would send us a helper, the Holy Spirit who would be with us always. We see this fulfilled in the book of Acts on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came down on the disciples in the upper room and they began to speak in other tongues. They were filled with such boldness and strength that the same Peter who was fearful to the point of denying Jesus 3 times some was now able to preach and 3000 people accepted Jesus as Lord.

The Holy Spirit lives in us and He is our teacher our helper our counsellor. One of the areas that He helps us a great deal is in the area of prayer because we sometimes do not know what to pray for but because He knows the heart and mind of God then He is able to pray through us with groaning’s too deep for words. He knows what we need and He knows the heart of God, there is no other helper to help us pray an accurate prayer than the Holy Spirit.

One of the greatest areas of failure of many believers is that we have not developed a relationship and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. He lives in us but we have rendered Him jobless because we do not fellowship with Him and neither do we allow Him to pray through us. For some, we have reduced Him to praying in tongues and rolling on the floor and that’s about it.

He is our helper and teacher; His prayers are right on the mark in the will of God!

Allow Him to teach you, and to strengthen your prayer life and He prays through you!
