Psalm 27
Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. 8 When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.” 9 Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger;
You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.
Psalm 27 is an interesting psalm and it is believed that David wrote it while he was running for his life because King Saul was out to kill him. David as a young man had been anointed as the next king in Israel. Gods hand was upon him and he is able to bring down Goliath, the giant that had terrorized the armies of Israel for many days. He people praise him more than they praise the king and now he has become an enemy of the king who is out to kill him.
This is one of those instances you wonder why God has forsaken you. Though you have walked in faith and obedience it seems like God has forsaken you and now you have to run for your life.
It is in this kind of circumstances that David pens psalm 27. This psalm is full of the reality the David is facing and yet at the same time praise to the God that he serves.
As believers we sometimes forget how powerful praise and worship is especially when we are in a season where things are not working out and it feels like God has forsaken us. When we are in this season, praise and worship is the furthest thing from our minds because the enemy know how powerful a tool it is. The enemy sets us up to complain and murmur about God but when we praise instead, it confuses the enemy Listen to what David says……..
Psalm 27: 14
Wait[e] on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!
That says a lot about the kind of attitude David had even though he was going through a harsh season in his life, one he probably did not understand. He knew the God he was serving and he knew how to praise and worship Him no matter what. May we learn from him
Reflective Thoughts
Do you find it hard to praise God when He seems silent or far away from you?

Is singing and declaring praise and worship unto God something you only do when you are with others or are you comfortable doing it even when you are alone?

As David says, wait on the Lord and be of good courage and as you do so, maintain a good attitude and praise Him for who He is!
