Psalms 100: 4-5 NKJV
“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.”
Thanksgiving is an expression of gratitude, a declaration of appreciation to God. God does not just do good things, He is the very essence of goodness. He is good, and nothing else apart from good can come out of him.
God’s will is for us to give thanks in all circumstances. When we realize the power and benefits of giving thanks in all circumstances then we enter into a whole new realm of life. Thanksgiving dispels worry and anxiety because it shifts the focus from worry to God’s goodness and faithfulness. Thanksgiving is an expression of our faith in God and all he has promised.
Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.”
Worry and anxiety bring stress and sickness into our life. They create doubt and damage our faith. A heart of Thanksgiving is a heart filled with faith, a heart that is focused on God and believes He has the very best in store.
A heart of gratitude is a heart that is filled with peace and rest.
Think about it, a grateful person is an attractive person to be around because they always see and appreciate the good, giving thanks for it and they are always joyous. Doors open for such a person as opposed to one who is always critical and a complainer.
