Galatians 5:16-18 NKJV
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
God’s intention is that every believer walks in the Spirit and not in the flesh. This is because he wants us to succeed in fulfilling that which he created us to do so much so that he offers help by giving us his Spirit so that we can live a victorious life every day. When we read about Jesus and all he was able to accomplish while here on earth we marvel. This is the kind of life that God intends for you and I who believe to live, daily. Not having episodes that are scantily scattered over our life where we experience a visitation, but one that is consistent because God dwells in us forever.
The very first outcome of walking in the Spirit is that we will not fulfill the desires of the flesh, we gain victory over the flesh! That in itself is an amazing victory because many are living their life as a slave to the flesh and its desires, addictions being the order of the day.
When you go down a few verses from our key verse then we get to the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. This is the other outcome of walking in the Spirit. We are able to showcase the fruit of the Spirit in our character and the way we live life just Like Jesus did. Our character and the way we deal with others is so different that everyone sees it. They are able to testify of a true change in our life.
According to 1 Corinthians 12 we also will manifest the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our lives when we walk according to the Spirit. This enables us to be effective in ministry just as Jesus was because these gifts allow us to operate in the supernatural as the Spirit enables. Thy will on earth be done as it is in heaven then no longer remains a scripture we just read in the bible, it becomes the reality we live in daily, imagine the adventure. Our life becomes one that is guided by heavenly revelation allowing us to live life according to the terms of the heavenly kingdom and not what is happening on earth.
