New Man; Old Man Experiences

Romans 7:19 AMP
For the good that I want to do, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.

We have all been there, knowing the right thing to do yet we go on and do the wrong thing leading to regret and many times condemnation.
Paul the great apostle, the apostle who wrote most of the new testament faced the same challenge and he pens it down in our key verse today.
Though we have been made new in Christ and we have a new nature, we still have the capacity to sin and that sinful nature still seeks to take over and run our lives. Paul says in the previous chapter that he kills his flesh daily meaning we have to daily subject ourselves to that place of walking according to the Spirit and not putting our trust in the flesh.
When we feed the spirit man by engaging in spiritual activities like prayer worship reading the word and fellowship with other believers then the spirit man is made strong. On the contrary when we feed the flesh and neglect the spirit then the flesh and carnality become stronger in us.
We have to make these choices daily in how we live life and the truth is we will fall from time to time. The question is, will we be like Peter or like Judas? Peter denied Jesus three times while Judas betrayed Jesus. Peter found his way back to Jesus while Judas allowed himself to be overcome by his fall and he took his own life.

Proverbs 24:16 AMP
For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of disaster and collapse.

As Rachel Lampa says in her song, ” Every time I fall, I fall right back into your arms”

If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose].
1 John 1:9 AMP

Reflective Thoughts.
In what area of your life are you struggling the most between walking in the new nature and succumbing to the old nature?

How do you feel and what do you do when you succumb to the old nature?

God is at work in you, though you fall seven times, arise ask for forgiveness and keep growing.
