Isaiah 43:18-19
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” (NIV)
We all have experienced setbacks in our lives and sometimes we have allowed these setbacks to enslave us to the point that we never enjoy the full Christian life that God has given us to enjoy; we end up living a life less then what God wants for us. However, God says, “I am doing a new thing!” Our Christian faith is about the opportunity to start fresh; to do something new with our life.
We need to understand that God is far more interested in our future than He is in our past. God is not stuck on your past. He says, “Forget the former things.” If you consistently look behind, you cannot see where you are going; you cannot see where God wants to lead you.
Don’t be discouraged by the bumps on the path. We’re not promised an easy passage. The Lord is about to do something new, but you had to go through the wilderness in order to get it. Continue to trust God, put your faith in Him and be ready for your new thing which is even better than anything that has come before it. God is up to something, something new.
