JOHN 14:16-17 AMP
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor–Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever– the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.
This one thing is for sure, the work and assignment that God has given us is impossible to accomplish if we try and do it in our own strength. No wonder Jesus told the disciples not to leave Jerusalem but to wait until they were empowered from on high so as to be able to fulfill the call that was before them. The same applies to us today, we cannot operate alone, we must be empowered and strengthened by the Holy Spirit to be able to do and accomplish the call of God over our life. Because of the Holy Spirit working in Him and strengthening Him, Jesus was able to do all that He did, who are we to think that we can make it without Him.
God has anointed us and called us into different areas and sometimes someone may look at what you do and wonder how you are able to do it. Well it is because God through His Spirit has anointed you in that specific area and He continues to empower and strengthen you to do what needs to be done as you depend on Him.
It is the Holy Spirit who gives us the strength to stand firm in the midst of trials and temptations. Not only that, it is this same Holy Spirit who empowers us with different gifts so that we can minister to the body of Christ and thus strengthening the whole body.
Romans 12: 4-8
4 For just as in one [physical] body we have many parts, and these parts do not all have the same function or special use, 5 so we, who are many, are [nevertheless just] one body in Christ, and individually [we are] parts one of another [mutually dependent on each other]. 6 Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to use them accordingly: if [someone has the gift of] prophecy, [let him speak a new message from God to His people] in proportion to the faith possessed; 7 if service, in the act of serving; or he who teaches, in the act of teaching; 8 or he who encourages, in the act of encouragement; he who gives, with generosity; he who leads, [a]with diligence; he who shows mercy [in caring for others], with cheerfulness.
Are you overwhelmed? Have you been trying to run things in your own strength? Ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen you, He will!
