My Identity in Christ: Obstacle to True Identity

Romans 12:2 NKJV
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
The biggest obstacle that we face when it comes to embracing our identity in Christ is our mindset. Yes we are born again and we have a new life and identity in Christ, but if our mindset remains the same then we will not experience fully that which God has for us.
The book of Romans tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Meaning that as much as we are born again, there is a progressive work that needs to happen in our minds and every individual is to take personal responsibility for that.
Think about this; God heard the cries of his people in Egypt and the promise was that He was getting them out and taking them into a land flowing with milk and honey. He did get them out but that whole generation did not enter in not because God did not hold up his end of the deal but simply because they refused to have a renewed mind. They were still slaves in their minds.
It is only the word of God that can renew our minds. Is it not a wonder that God tells Joshua when he takes over from Moses to focus on the word, speak it, think it, meditate on it and do everything it says then he will be successful and prosperous?
This is why the devil will fight tooth and nail to ensure that we don’t read and meditate on Gods word because then he can enslave us in our minds.
What old mindsets are still holding you back?
How important is the renewal of your mind to you? Could there be blessings you have not received not because God has not released them but because your mindset is wrong?
