Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night maybe to head on to the kitchen for a night snack (you know yourself) or to go to the bathroom and there was a black out? Though you know your way around the house pretty well, you bump into things along the way especially if you have kids. You will probably step on some toys, bump into the corner of the couch, (now that’s a painful experience especially for your toes) and sometimes even miss the door. All this because there is no light to illuminate your path.
Psalm 119:105 (NASB)
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
We need our Bible because it acts like a flashlight to light our path. In this generation of the mobile phone, it’s almost standard that most phones today have an in built flashlight. This is because we find ourselves in many situations where we need a ray of light to light our path. You and I need to read our bible because it is that ray of light that we need to navigate our way through life and all its challenges.
The word of God is a lamp to my feet. When I read it, it shows me where I should step. It counsels me on the next step I should take. When I awake and there is darkness all around me, the word of God illuminates my feet and directs me the direction to go and where to place my feet.
Are you stuck? Have you been bumping into obstacles that the enemy has laid along your path? Read Gods word and His light will shine showing you which routes to avoid and where and when to take the next step.
The Bible is a light to my path, not only does it show me where to step, it also lights my path to show me where I am going. As I read the word it shows me what’s ahead, the traps the enemy has laid on the way and the promises that God has in waiting for me. It gives me direction in life, through the Bible I find purpose and meaning in life.
Whenever I take a trip, I always carry a flashlight. It is a necessity, you never travel without it. Life is a journey, a journey in a dark world. A world that is getting darker and darker and many are losing their way and bumping into obstacles that are sucking life out of them. You and I cannot afford to travel this journey without the word of God.
Is you bible a companion everywhere you go? Purpose from today to have the bible your flashlight with you all the time.
