Romans 12:6-8 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
A side from the gifts of the Spirit found in the book of 1 Corinthians 12, we find mention of more gits mentioned in Romans 12. Remember all these gifts are given by the same Spirit to everyone who is born again as the Spirit wills and they are for the edification of the body, for the benefit of all.
Ministry or Service
The gift of service a gift which expresses the love of Christ by taking care of lowly or time-consuming tasks to allow others to be more effective ministers. The work performed is basic rather than skilled. Those with this gift are the truest and highest leaders in the church, and ought to be recognized as such. Remember what happened in the book of Acts when there was an issue with the distribution of food to the widows?
Gift of Teaching
There are preachers and then there are teachers. Those with the gift of teaching have the ability to break down Gods word in such a way to bring clarity and understanding to the hearer.
The result of this gift is the equipping and maturing of others in the body of Christ so that they will grow in grace and be more effective disciples.
Encouragement
This gift enables one to be able to uplift and encourage others by well timed and wise counsel. Barnabas in the book of Acts flowed in this gift. He was called Joseph but later renamed Barnabas which means son of encouragement because he was such an encourager. This gift helps the body of Christ to grow and mature, it is also called the gift of counseling.
Can you imagine the kind of Church it would be if all the believers operated in the gifts that they have been given? Every meeting would be supernatural and coming together would always be miraculous.
Reflective Thoughts
Do you flow in any of the above gifts?
