If someone was to ask you what the greatest need in the world is, what would you say? Maybe you would say provision so that all the poor and starving families we constantly see in the media can be taken care of. Or maybe you would say renewable energy to drive all this new tech that we are coming up with every day. But then again with all the wars and conflict being reported all over the world, maybe peace would be the greatest need.
Imagine a need so great that God himself has to step in and do something about it. A need so great that angels cannot meet it, God has to get involved personally and not just by performing a miracle from heaven. He has to be the miracle, He has to dress up in a suit of flesh and show up on earth to do the job Himself!
Romans 3:23 (NLT)
23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
Romans 6:23 (AMP)
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God [that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers] is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The greatest need for mankind is freedom from the grasp of sin. This is a need that no one else could meet apart from God Himself though Jesus Christ His son. This need is the genesis of all other needs that we have in the world today but sadly many of us don’t realize it and even a good number of those who do don’t seem to see the urgency in this matter.
This need is so great because dying in sin without this need being met means one will live in eternal separation from God. Jesus came to meet that need and He did meet that need but we have to come to that place where we recognize that we have this great need that we cannot meet no matter how good we try to be. We are born with this need, its like being born with chains all around you. It is only when we recognize that only Jesus can meet this need and we go on to embrace Him as Lord and savior over our life that those chains are broken.
As we get closer to Christmas, I pray that you embrace Christ in your life to meet the greatest need of the human race.
