Make a Joyful Noise

Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Make a Joyful Noise
David, the author of this Psalm, tell us to make a joyful noise to the Lord. That includes singing. We are to come into His presence with an attitude that exudes thanksgiving. We are to praise him with our lips and bless his name. Notice something? Praise isn’t something we do in our mind but with our mouth. We are to speak these things out loud for God to hear.

Cultivate a Heart of Thanksgiving
Don’t know what to thank God for? David gives us several things to start. First, he is God, the creator of the universe. We are also his people and part of his flock. He takes care of His flock. Finally, we can thank Him for his goodness and unfailing love and faithfulness. We need to cultivate an attitude of thankfulness; it doesn’t happen naturally. Start small but do it daily. Over time you will notice that it happens automatically and you will begin to see more and more things you’re are thankful for. Make a joyful noise and let that noise be one of being thankful.
