Living The Blessed Life: The Blessing, What is it?

Genesis 1:28 AMP
And God blessed them [granting them certain authority] and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subjugate it [putting it under your power]; and rule over (dominate) the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

When God created Adam and Eve, the bible says that God blessed them. Now when God blesses you then know for sure that you are truly blessed. But think about this, Adam and Eve had no car, no house, they had no money no clothes or any of the things we look at today to determine that we are blessed , yet they were blessed.
What then is the blessing?

The word bless is associated with the power and capacity to increase and multiply. We see it first when God created the animals and He blesses them giving them the authority and capacity to multiply. We see the same when he created man he command Adam and Eve to multiply and be fruitful.
The blessing is not a thing but rather the power and authority to become and bring forth, that is conferred to someone through speech. We see the power of the blessing in the old testament God speaks it over Abraham and it is then transfered on from father to son. When Jacob deceived his father and he got the blessing, he did not receive any material thing intact he fled empty handed but he carried the blessing.

Joseph was blessed no matter where they put him. In the pit he carried the blessing. In Portipha’s house he carries the blessing and it manifested through his work so that everything was left under his care. The same happened in prison and in the palace.
The blessing is not what you have on the outside because that is temporary and it can be destroyed or taken away, the blessing is what you carry on the inside, the power to bring forth become and multiply.

God has spoken blessings over you who is born again, you who is a new creation in Christ Jesus. We have the power and authority to become but we must activate the blessing because we have a part to play in this. like Psalms 1 says
And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season; Its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity].
Psalms 1:3 AMP
You carry the blessing…. Do something with it

Reflective Thoughts.
Do you consider yourself already blessed or are you consistently praying for God to bless you?

Abraham was blessed so that he could be a blessing. What does that tell you about Gods blessing over your life?

Blessing and increase go hand in hand and we see this in the lives of those who were blessed in the bible. You carry the power and authority to increase, are you putting it to use?
