Listen and Obey

1 Samuel 15:24 NKJV
Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.
One sure way to experience and live the abundant life that God has for us is to listen and walk in obedience to his voice. When you look at what Saul did from face value, it seems like a good thing, right? He had spared the best of the sheep and oxen to offer as a sacrifice to the Lord, but is that what the Lord had commanded him to do?
Sometimes as believers we disobey God because we want to please the people and so we do the very opposite of what God has commanded because it looks good to the people and it gives us favor with them, but is it worth it?
Samuel the prophet told King Saul
1 Samuel 15:22 NKJV
So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord ? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.
God is looking for a people who will love him and trust him. A people who will walk in obedience to his word even when it seems absurd to the people. When we listen to Gods voice and walk in obedience to him then it demonstrates our trust and love for him.
Sometimes we want to go out there and do great things for God but before we get there, have we been faithful to obey the little instructions that he has been giving us along the way?
Reflective Thoughts.
