Lack of Knowledge

The greatest need of the human race is to be set free from the law of sin and death and to be reconnected back to God our father. That is what Christmas is all about. The need was so great that God had to come down to earth dressed in a suit of flesh just like we are in order to meet this need. Our mandate then for those of us who believe is to tell others about him. Why then is it that many of us don’t see the urgency in this matter?

Hebrews 5:12 (AMP)
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers [because of the time you have had to learn these truths], you actually need someone to teach you again the elementary principles of God’s word [from the beginning], and you have come to be continually in need of milk, not solid food.

Yesterday we talked about lack of concern, today we talk about lack of knowledge. Paul says that though some of us ought to be teachers by now, we still need the milk of the word. Though we are taught, we never grasp what we have been taught. We have become like a leaking vessel that keeps being filled yet the more we are filled, the more the water slips away.

I will never forget one time a friend calling me on the phone to pray for an individual who wanted to get born again. My friend did not know how to lead him though he had been a Christian for quite a number of years. How do we fulfill the great commission of making disciples and teaching them to obey what Christ has taught us if we ourselves still need to be taught the elementary truths of the kingdom?

We fear or fail to tell others about Christ because we say; “What if they ask me questions? I don’t know the Bible like my pastor!” and so we fail to tell others that Jesus died for us and paid the penalty of sin and through faith in Him then we have eternal life.
Christmas is that opportune time to tell others about Christ because the whole world recognizes that Christ was born. Get some knowledge about Christ and why He came and this Christmas make it your goal to tell at least one person the good news and the real reason why we celebrate Christmas. The fact that Jesus came and died for our sins and it did not end there, He was raised from the dead and he ascended into heaven but He will come back for those of us who have believed in and placed our faith in Him!
That’s the gospel, the good news!
