Researchers and doctors are learning new things every day when it comes to our health. New discoveries, new medicines better understanding of some of the sicknesses we have struggled with are bringing out new revelations that are helping us cope with some of these diseases. Some of the diseases that were life threatening years ago are no longer a big deal today because doctors and researchers kept on learning and in doing so gained better understanding enabling them to come up with better solutions.
The same applies to our spiritual health. We have to keep learning. We can never get to a place where we say we know everything and thus we have nothing new to learn.

2 Timothy 2:15 (AMP)
15 Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth.

Paul tells his mentee Timothy that he must study to show himself approved. No one can study on your behalf, you have to study and keep learning for yourself. Many only read but reading alone is not enough. We are called to study, to take time and scrutinize the word. To study is to devote time and attention to the word; it is a deliberate action to gain more knowledge and understanding.
Many of us would assume that it is those in the so called five-fold ministry who have been called to devote themselves to study and keep on learning what the word of God says but that is not true.

Matthew 28:19-20
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”

The great commission as we call it is a command that Jesus left with all believers meaning you and I included. How then can we teach others to observe everything Jesus has commanded us to do if we ourselves are not continuously learning? My friend Anthony T. Gitonga tells me “To teach another is to learn better!” Who are you teaching? If you are not teaching anyone, it’s probably because you have not been leaning anything new lately.

So, so you want to be spiritually healthy; Connect with God and with other believers, activate your faith because faith without works is dead, stay alert and be aware and fourthly keep learning there is still much more to know.
