He will lift you up

Keys to Victorious Living
James 4:10

10 Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up, He will give you purpose].
Humility is the road that leads to the door of honour and exaltation. Let’s face it; many of us are striving to be recognized, to be honoured and to be exalted. In this generation where men award you for being the best this and the best that, a generation where we love being given this title and that title, many are striving for such honour. The social media generation where everybody is striving to be a brand, a celebrity, a generation of people who are famous not for what they have done but famous for the sake of just being famous.

Nothing wrong with being awarded, don’t get me wrong, but when that becomes your focus and the driving force of why you do what you do, then you have gone off the rails. When you begin to lord over and despise others seeing them as beneath you because of the awards and titles you have then there is something very wrong.

Ours is to humble ourselves before the Lord, to seek to please Him and to do everything as unto Him. When we focus on Him then He gives us purpose, we begin to understand the why of our existence and the more we know it the more we seek to please him. At His appointed time then God begins to lift us up. Now one thing is for sure, when God lifts you up then no man can bring you down no matter who they are or what they have. When all you live for is for other men to exalt you then they will bring you down and when you exalt yourself becoming proud and self-seeking then be sure of this one thing, God will humble you.

As we have been sharing this week, how I pray that we will submit ourselves to the authority of God that we will resist the devil and he will flee from us. I pray that we will draw near to God that He may draw near to us, that we will humble ourselves before Him and as we do that then at His appointed time He will lift us up.
Now that is what I call victorious living!
