Hardened By Sin

Hebrews 3:13 (AMP)

13 But continually encourage one another every day, as long as it is called “Today” [and there is an opportunity], so that none of you will be hardened [into settled rebellion] by the deceitfulness of sin [its cleverness, delusive glamour, and sophistication].

Some of the things we consider normal today were unthinkable several years ago. The entertainment we consume today was unthinkable several years back. I still remember one time back in the day we had a local TV show that depicted a bedroom scene where a man and a woman were sitting on the bed talking but that was enough for the then president to give a directive for the show to be taken off the air because it was against our morals as a nation. Today the picture is so different.

I was once told that what you allow you will eventually accept. This is what has happened to us. We have allowed sin to be a part of our daily existence so much that our hearts have been hardened. First it entices you, then it makes you its slave after which it renders you blind and it hardens you. What was unthinkable for us some years ago has now become everyday entertainment.

We are admonished to encourage each other every day as long as it is called today because that is what will cause us not to be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Everyone in the body of Christ is called upon to be an encourager. When we step away from the word and we start to follow after what others think or what is trending then we open up our hearts to things that are not godly but because they seem acceptable within out circles we slowly embrace it not knowing that in the process we are being hardened by sin. The voice of our conscience becomes fainter by the day and soon enough we feel nothing when we do wrong.

Has your heart been hardened and you don’t even know it?

How do you respond to the evils that have become socially acceptable?

Ezekiel 36:26 (AMP)

26 Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you, and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

May this be the prayer of our hearts today and forever.
