Hebrews 13:2 Amplified Bible (AMP)
2 Do not neglect to extend hospitality to strangers [especially among the family of believers—being friendly, cordial, and gracious, sharing the comforts of your home and doing your part generously], for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.
There are homes and people that you visit and you don’t feel like leaving. You want to just hang out and talk. Then there are those homes or people that you visit and you can’t wait for the time to leave because you don’t really feel welcome.
Another good work we are to do is to be hospitable to strangers especially among the family of believers. The bible says in doing this, some of us have entertained angels.
I will never forget one time we had the opportunity to host some missionaries but we felt like we were not ready because though we had the space, we did not have adequate beddings. The missionaries said they don’t mind sleeping on the floor and though my wife and I felt embarrassed we hosted them for a whole week and they slept on the floor. The thing that shocked us is that they had so much fun and they really loved my wife’s cooking that they blessed us with something that had been on our prayer list for a long time.
Today many have become so selfish not willing to open up their homes to host even believers because we say life has become expensive or we use issues of security as an excuse and the truth is we end up blocking our own blessings for what you sow is what you will reap.
You may be the angel that God wants to use to shelter someone and encourage them or that very person may be the one that God uses to speak a word of encouragement to you in your time of need.
Has God blessed you with a place you can call home? Do not be selfish with it, open it up to receive and host and be a blessing especially to those of the faith.
