Good Company

Luke 1:39
39 Now at this time Mary arose and hurried to the hill country, to a city of Judah (Judea), 40 and she entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.

As the saying goes, “Birds of a feather flock together.” One of the lessons we learn from the story of Christmas is the importance of keeping great company. Mary has just gone through an experience that is hard to explain and somewhat hard to tell because who would believe such a story? She takes off to her relative Elizabeth because she also had a visitation that is hard to explain. The angel that appeared to Mary also told her;

Luke 1:36
36 And listen, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month. 37 For with God nothing [is or ever] shall be impossible.”

Mary did not wait, she made the first move and she went on to seek out Elizabeth. The bible tells us that she stayed there for 3 months. When she got there Elizabeth re affirmed all that Mary had heard from the angel. Can you imagine the encouragement that must have given her? Even before she told her story, Elizabeth confirms that the baby she is carrying in her womb is born of the Holy Spirit. Wow, what encouragement.

Great company that affirms what God has planted in you is very important because the words they speak will water the vision on the inside of you. We at times give up on our dreams and vision because we hang out with the wrong company that keeps telling us it is not possible and soon enough we believe them allowing doubt and unbelief to germinate in our hearts. Remember yesterday we talked about the importance of being in agreement with God’s word, it is also of utmost importance to hang out with people who agree with Gods word.

A friend once told me that when you want to buy a house, don’t hang out with people who are renting because they will consistently tell you how hard it is to buy a house. Instead hang out with those who have bought a house because they will consistently paint a picture before you reminding you how possible it is.

Proverbs 13:20 (AMP)
20 He who walks [as a companion] with wise men will be wise, But the companions of [conceited, dull-witted] fools [are fools themselves and] will experience harm.

Are you walking with wise or foolish men? Mary knew the importance of right company, someone who could identify with supernatural thing that she has experienced because they too had experienced something similar. Choose your company wisely; the actualization of your vision depends on it.
