God will Restore

2 Kings 8:6 NKJV
And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed a certain officer for her, saying, “Restore all that was hers, and all the proceeds of the field from the day that she left the land until now.”

Have you ever lost something because you followed the Lords direction and all you ever wanted to do was to please him?
That is what the Shunamite woman went through. Out of her good heart in 2 kings 4 we see her taking care of Gods prophet. She feeds him continually and basically opens up her home to him. Because of her service to the man of God, the Lord blesses her with a son. After some years the boy dies suddenly and it seems like she has lost what God had given her but Elisha Gods prophet restores her son back to life.
Eventually she leaves her homeland to to to the land of the Philistines for 7 years at the direction of Elisha because of the famine that is coming. At the end of the 7 years she comes back home and it seems like she has lost everything but the king appoints an officer to restore all that she had lost.

Her story is one of service to God and how God restores what we lose as we serve him. This world is harsh and in our service to God we will lose relationships or even material possessions and even opportunities. But one thing is for sure; just as all was restored to the Shunamite woman, even the proceeds from her land that she was supposed to benefit from for the 7 years she was away, God is able and he will appoint an officer to restore to you and I what we have lost in service to him.

May we stay focused and not give up. May we serve him diligently no matter what we loose because we have the assurance that he is a just God and he will restore.

Reflective Thoughts.
What are some of the things you feel you have lost because you would not compromise in your service to God?

Did that affect your attitude and service towards God?

Knowing that God will restore that which you loose as you serve him, what attitude then should you have?
