God is Sovereign

Elections can bring out the best and the worst in us as believers and what we are going through right now in Kenya is a clear indication of that. With every election comes diverse feelings, those whose candidate has won are usually ecstatic and joyful sometimes their celebration seeming to mock those whose candidate lost. On the other hand, those whose candidate has lost sometimes feel a sense of betrayal, depression and worry but as believers it should not be so.
We need to remind ourselves about various things that will bring us back to the right perspective. First, never forget that God is sovereign

1 Timothy 6:15 (AMP) 15 ……—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign [the absolute Ruler], the King of those who reign as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords

God is and will always remain sovereign no matter which candidate wins and we have our allegiance to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Sometimes when we are in an election situation we tend to forget Gods sovereignty and we shift our focus to put our trust in a man forgetting the bible tells us that cursed is he who puts his trust in a man. If our candidate wins we feel like a breakthrough has come our way and our candidate will now make things happen to give us a better life but if history is anything to go by, we usually end up disappointed. Besides their reign is only for a season of time and then we vote again.
God is sovereign over everything, His reign is eternal and he is immortal, the sovereign King of kings and Lord of Lords! This understanding ought to give us peace because whether our preferred candidate wins or not, God still reigns over them.
Because God is sovereign we must believe that;

Romans 8:28 (AMP) 28 And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.

.No matter which candidate wins, as a believer you and I have a promise and an assurance that all things will work out for our good.

Romans 8:31 (AMP) 31 What then shall we say to all these things? If God is for us, who can be [successful] against us?

Paul goes on to remind us in verses 35- 39 that nothing and no situation can ever separate us from the love of God through Christ Jesus. Now that is such a re assuring word and that is where we need to fix our eyes on because that is an eternal promise no matter who is president.

The reality is we sometimes get anxious because we do not know the future and what it holds for us but when you really think about the scriptures we have shared then you realize that this is not true. We DO know the future because we have been given a promise. All things no matter how bleak they may seem will work out for our good, that’s a guarantee. Secondly, nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of GOD!
God is and will always be sovereign.
