Forgiveness Mindset: Vengeance is the Lords

Romans 12:17‭-‬18 NKJV
Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, that’s what many of us desire. When someone wrongs us we want justice and that is right but the question is, who should dispense the justice and at what time?
I have seen church services where people pronounce curses on those who have done them wrong and even calling fire from heaven to come and consume them, but is that what God wants?
God says that vengeance is his and not ours and that’s because God is a just God. When you and I settle it in our hearts that our God is a just God then we will not struggle to forgive when he tells us to.
God tells us to repay evil with good and as much as possible live at peace with all men.
Mathew 5:44-45
44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
Let’s be honest, sometimes we feel like when we forgive the other person has gotten away with it. Remember forgiveness is not about the other person it’s about you and your relationship with God.
Reflections
Do you believe that God is a just God
When God says vengeance is his, what do you think that means.
We are commanded not to repay evil with evil but with good. Have you w ever had to do that? What happened?
