Romans 10:17 NKJV
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
It is said that if you feed your faith then your doubts will starve to death. What is faith? in the simplest of definitions, faith is responding to the word of God. The bible says that faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Imagine two seeds that are planted in the ground. One of the seeds is consistently feed with water while the other one is let to be with no water. Soon enough, both seeds will die but then something interesting will begin to happen to one of the seeds. The seed fed with water will begin to germinate, life will start to spring forth from that which seemed dead and soon enough it will produce fruit more than that which was planted. The other seed will die and rot and that will be the end of it. Faith is like that seed, what you do with it is entirely up to you. The bible is the water and the more you apply it the more the faith grows.
A great faith preacher once said that some Christians feed their bodies three hot meals a day, and their spirits one cold snack a week and then wonder why they are so weak in their faith.
Faith comes by hearing the word of God. That is such a powerful statement that many Christians ignore. How many times have you heard someone saying that they wish God would give them more faith yet they pay no attention to the word of God? If you want to grow your faith then you need to spend more time in the word, that is how you feed your faith.
God told Joshua to read the book of the law and meditate on it day and night and when he did that, his faith was built up and this was the kind of faith that was accompanied by works and he was able to achieve much, leading the children of Israel into the promised land.
Kenneth Haggin said “Faith begins where the will of God is known” The will of God is known through his word.
Psalm 34:8 NKJV “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”
Feeding your faith is important and it is your responsibility, no one can do it for you. Remember without faith it is impossible to please God so let’s feed our faith in 2021.
Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Looking at your week hours, how many have you deliberately allocated to hearing the word of God? You cannot expect that which you do not invest in to grow, what are you willing to do to ensure that you are deliberately investing more time in the word of God in 2021?
There is faith and then there is the gift of faith by the Holy Spirit. As you do your part to invest in hearing the word of God, pray that the Holy Spirit will empower you with the gift of faith.
