Enduring Faith: Kept By His Power

1 Peter 1:3-5
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance [b]incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Have you ever had someone tell you that yes they believe in the Gospel of the kingdom but they do not want to commit because they know themselves and they will go back so they would rather not commit? You probably said the same thing at one time because I did.
Because of Gods mercy, he has begotten us again through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The bible tells us that it is the mercies of God that leads us to repentance. There is laid up for us an inheritance in heaven that is incorruptible and undefiled and it does not fade away. What a promise and something for you and I who believe to look forward to.
But the most encouraging and reassuring thing about this verse is the truth that we are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation.
That’s amazing. This then means that what you and I are required to do is to have faith in God and fix our eyes on Jesus because it is through him that we are redeemed!
Remember without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. This faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God.
None of us believers can keep or sustain ourselves in the faith apart from the power of God. Remember Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit who will be and now is with us forever.
Yes trials will come and they must come in order to try our faith, but as long as we keep our focus on Jesus, as long as we stand in faith to that which we have heard and believed, then God through his power will keep us.
The God who called you is able to keep and sustain you through this perilous times we live in. Trust him, he never fails!
